AquaFlex® technology has been used for disaster response and cleanup for 10+ years. Scott Smith, a Harvard Business School graduate, originally developed AquaFlex® in 2003 for use by the US Military as a high surface area applicator for neutralizing chemicals on human skin. In 2010 AquaFlex® technology was approved, used, and endorsed by BP America in the clean up of the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. In 2018 AquaFlex® technology was validated by CDC ELITE labs for water sampling for pathogens. Since then the technology is in use by Homeland Security, the State of Florida in applications to help mitigate the effects of harmful algal blooms and by the Union of Plumbers, Fitters, Welders, and Service Techs (the United Association or “UA”) as a water sampling device for a National Water Quality Program.
2 Step System
AquaFlex® Disinfecting Kit is a 2-part system for disinfecting surfaces that involves trapping the pathogens and then killing the pathogens with any EPA-registered disinfectant.
The first part is utilizing our high surface area Open-Cell polyolefin foam mitt with an interconnected capillary network to apply to a potentially pathogen-contaminated surface after infusing the capillary network with an EPA-registered disinfectant. This high surface area effectively sets the trap to capture pathogens on surfaces that includes a multitude of pathogens from bacteria to viruses.
The second part of the system is killing the pathogens with any EPA-registered disinfectant that kills the pathogens. It is essential to follow all instructions on the label of the EPA-registered disinfectant for efficacy.
